Cheneygate Continues:
Aerosmith and Weird Al Yankovic have tentatively agreed to record “Cheney’s Got A Gun” (a parody of the veteran rock group’s 1989 single, “Janey’s Got a Gun”). Proceeds from the single will go to the Texas Barristers Preservation Society & The Society for The Prevention of Cruelty To Lawyers.

Birthday observations upon this, my 34th:
The morning DJ on KKGO (an Adult Standards station here in L.A.) declaring Frank Sinatra’s “No One Cares” as an overlooked and underappreciated work. The unintended irony of his statement wasn’t lost on me. I laughed out loud and the dog gave me a quizzical look…perhaps he just wanted a biscuit.
Picked up the new Saint Etienne yesterday (“Tales From Turnpike House” out now on Savoy Jazz). Early impressions? The most quintessentially English album since Blur’s “Modern Life Is Rubbish” and dare I say, “The Kinks Are The Village Preservation Society”.
Rock snobs don’t get old, they only get snobbier.
I don’t feel 34 but I don’t know what 34 is supposed to feel like…I think 35 will have more of an impact, after all that age is mentioned in one of the most recognizable (if not wistful) songs in the Sinatra canon…”When I was 35…”. You know how the song goes. If not, you should. They are all very good years.
